Description
Early (No graphic EQ) Mesa/Boogie D-180 amplifier. This amp features 6x 6L6 tubes and was advertised as being for guitar or bass use. It is best known as the amp orignally used by Cliff Burton the original bass player for Metallica. The amp has a unique Master volume control with 'Variable Current Limiter' which adds distortion as the master volume is turned down. The Clean capture and M9 were made on input 2 which is the 'full range' input The dirty capture was made on input 1 which rolls off some low end. Capture chain: Audient ID14 -> vintage Collins transformer (reamp) -> amplifier -> Whirlwind Director DI between amplifier and a speaker cabinet -> ID14
