Tubeworks Mosvalve 500
Description
Here is a NAM of the Tubeworks Mosvalve 500 (MV-942) power amp. To my knowledge it is the biggest power amp that Tubeworks ever produced. While Tubeworks did produce some tube things, this is a solid-state power amp. What makes this amp unique, was during the 90's tube sound quest by many vendors (the quest to create tube sound from solid state amps), what the MV-942 brought to the table was a power amp designed to produce primarily "even" order harmonics, only part of the overall tube equation to be sure, but IMHO a substantially significant one. This power amp would produce ear pleasing tones. In a crude analogy, this amp had a thanksgiving day turkey way of drying up tones to create overall warm tones. I hope NAM was able to capture this quality in its capture. This power amp was supposedly used by Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains and members of Megadeth Dave Mustaine, and Marty Friedman, to achieve both live and recorded tones.
