Zulu Tape Simulator
Description
I hope you enjoy the captures of my Zulu Tape Simulator! All captures sound very close to the hardware and will become a mainstay in my template once NAM receives native stereo support. For those unfamiliar with the hardware, this box is passive and requires quite a bit of make-up gain to level-match. Thankfully, I’ve handled this with a pair of API 512C preamps going into my Apollo x16, so swapping between different captures should be fairly comparable in level to your “dry signal”. The objective of this release was to capture the MX calibration, as I regularly reach for this on my drum and bass busses. Please note that these captures: • have no enhance (e.g., are 100% wet); • are at full bias; • are only of the Lo and Pro deck settings (as Hi is too subtle for my taste); and • are for all three headroom settings (e.g., Lo = dirtiest, Pro = middle of the road, Hi = cleanest). File naming structure: “calibration” - “deck type” - “head room” For most distorted MX - Lo - Lo - left/right For least distorted MX - Pro - Hi - left/right
