BOSS OD-3
Description
The Boss OD-3 overdrive is a smooth and compressed overdrive with a much more transparent EQ profile than a SD-1 or Tube Screamer. It has two clipping stages, and clips assymetrical, in typical Boss fashion. It is supposedly meant to sound like a JCM900. Corksniffers might disregard Boss pedals, but the fact is that many holds the OD-3 to be a top notch overdrive, on par with the best boutique pedals. Judge for yourself, but I like this very much. In this set, there are 3 tone variations, 3, 5 and 7, to make it work with different guitars and ams. There are 8 drive levels: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 10. I prefer the lower settings myself, and drive at 7 and 10 is noisy. The amount of compression in this pedal is high, so it feels very loud, even at low drive settings. You will probably want to knock off a lot at the pugin output to get it down to a sensible level, -10 to -14 at the output and it sounds good. Reamped through a Palmer Trave with a reamp level of 12,1 dBu. Normalized to -3 dB before treining. Trained at 200 epochs in standard mode. ESR from 0,0008 to 0,0012 Have fun!
