ZVex Fuzz Factory Clone

Description

Here are 6 captures of a Fuzz Factory clone that I built about 10 years ago. My clone uses a pair of AC128 germanium transistors. Settings are in the file name with the typical horizontal order of controls: Volume, Gate, Comp, Drive, Stab I think NAM got the basic tonality right. The pedal glitches more as notes are held longer on the gated captures. These gated captures lack dynamics, but the real pedal responds in a similar manner at the same settings. There's 1 setting that's like almost like a traditional Fuzz Face that has some dynamics. ESR was atrocious, but the sound was closer than what the numbers suggested. The settings that I dialed in are gated, but that was necessary because about half of all possible settings on the Fuzz Factory lead to self oscillation. My DIYRE L2A Reamp and Steinberg UR824 audio interface were calibrated to 11.5dBu, basically at the level of Line 6 hardware. I ran through a pickup simulator based on the AMZ-FX project example using a 42TM019 transformer and a 330pF capacitor. This reduced noise by about 7dB. Training was done at 1000 Epochs. This was a vero board build based on the Tagboard Effects layout. https://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2012/10/zvex-fuzz-factory-compact-layout.html?m=1
