Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini + Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 Floor
Description
If you are looking for a powerful, defined and versatile sound for your dark metal, you cannot miss the Neural Amp Modeler of my rig: this package perfectly emulates my favorite amp: the Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 Floor. This amp has an incredible lead channel, which manages to range from warm and creamy tones to aggressive and cutting crunch. To give my sound even more punch, I boost it with an Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini, set up according to Andy Sneap's recipe (drive at 9 o'clock, volume at 12 o'clock and tone at 11 o'clock). This pedal adds harmonics, definition and sustain to my signal, making it perfect for heavy riffs and melodic solos. But that's not all: to complete the package, I added an IR capture of one of my cabinets, the Randall RX412. This cabinet has four 12-inch speakers that produce a full, balanced and dynamic sound. I usually microphone it with an SM58, positioned halfway between the edge of the cone and the cap of the cone, at a distance of 1 cm from the tolex of the cabinet. This position allows me to capture both the brilliance and depth of my sound, without losing any detail. The result is a screaming sound, which I use both in the studio and in the rehearsal room and live with my band Expiatoria! So, why don't you give it a try?
