Description

The preamp formerly known as the "Top Secret Bogner modded JCM800 preamp". Now with all the calibrations! The settings captured in this pack are "Clean" - clean channel, gain around 5, 220pF bright cap and fairly scoopy tone control setting. -As clean as this unit will go. "Crunch" - clean channel, gain around 7, 4700pF bright cap and more mids less bass tone controls. -Dirtier, a bit underwhelming without the power amp distortion that you'd get in a proper amp, but useable. Try boosting it with the TM-1 ( https://tonehunt.org/Humbug/1f964ddb-240e-4e57-bec4-0f1cc6cecaaa ) for more more. "Lead Vintage" - lead channel, gain at 5, tone controls set with liberal mid and treble, bass rolled off a bit. -Mid and treble heavy 80's modded Marshall sounds. Not pretty, but good, squeaky fun. "Lead Modern" - lead channel, "modern" switch on, gain at 5, tone controls same as above. -Same as above, with more lows and less highs. Feels a bit more civilized. "Lead Vintage Solo" - lead channel, gain at around 8, tone controls a bit lighter on the treble. -All the distortions. Muddy enough in the lows to hide your (my) sloppy fast runs on the low strings. These sounds were dialed in with fairly low output, Alnico 2 PAF-style bridge pickups, and stacked humbucker and sidewinder neck pickups. JB style pickups should also work well. I accept no responsibility for what happens if you try to play this with one of those modern pickups named after dodgy sex toys or Tolkien characters. The universe might implode, or your ring could end up in the fires of mount doom or something IDK. !!! This is a preamp capture. It needs a good, Marshall-style power amp model (I recommend this one from 2dor: https://tonehunt.org/2dor/58197ad7-ad13-4eea-8319-d12f734f7573 ) and a 412, preferably greenbacks*, IR to sound good. *If you use 2dor's power amp model linked above, the "Phil X Mars" 412 DynIR or, I assume, other G12-T75 cab IRs will get you into full top hat and leather pants territory. It's not pretty, but a lot of fun. It has output calibration data, which seems to fairly accurately represent the actual output levels of the preamp, so if you want the same output level from all of them I recommend using the "normalise" button. That was more words. I'm proud!
