JHS Battery Sim Limited Edition

Description

JHS Battery Sim Limited Edition Pack (Requested by Adrian Parusel ) "Not all batteries are created equal.." - Josh Scott, JHS Pedals. "The JHS Bat-Sim offers 10 of Josh's favorite 9V battery modes to give your pedalboard even more tonal range." - JHS Pedals. The JHS Bat-Sim has an effects loop, so to simulate correct operation insert this in an instance of NAM placed after the pedal or piece gear you would like it to effect. Age, Voltage and Capacity set to optimum settings for each battery type to highlight their sound. 1 : RADIOSHACK - This vintage 1970s American battery was manufactured exclusively for RadioShack. You will notice a boosted mid frequency and a smoother taper of distortion in most distortion devices. 2 : THAI DURACELL - The classic 9V battery that debuted in 1965 and became the first battery on the moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission. This particular mode simulates Josh’s favorite Thailand-manufactured Duracell. 3 : JHS MODE - This mode is a reproduction of a “mystery battery” used by John Mayer that Josh found inside of a Dumble preamp. We took this a step further, even simulating the reactive voltage swing that occurred from John’s playing into the pedal, thus affecting the battery’s energy dissipation in reaction with the guitar’s input voltage swing. 4 : KODAK - This specialty camera battery has a special longevity and slow energy dissipation, originally being used to power the Kodak Instamatic cameras in the mid-1960s. 5 : USA - The run-of-the-mill 9V batteries available at American chain stores like CVS Pharmacy, Dollar General, Best Buy, Winn Dixie and Ace Hardware. Our pick is the Ace Hardware battery for its amazing clarity. 6 : BOSS - Boss is the most epic pedal company in existence, and when they introduced their first pedal line the batteries within these are incredible. This is the 1977 Silver Screw era battery. 7 : JAPANESE - This represents a branch, or just a bucket of batteries that I would classify as manufactured in Japan to specific Japanese manufacturing specifications. They do some things differently because of import export laws and they have different kinds of safety laws there, so there's a big mix. They're just wildly different than anything we have here. Japan's cool, you've got all these different structures due to the restrictions on the manufacturing, it results in quite simply a totally flat response, it would be like saying this is what a perfect, functional, battery with zero issues or zero variants or tolerances sounds like. 8 : CHINESE USB - This one is weird. It's nothing like these other vintage style batteries because it actually involves circuitry. It's Chinese manufacturered, you plug in a USB cable and you charge it. It's just really, really bizarre, so what happens is because of the space you need for the circuit board, the jack and just the rechargeable structure, you have a smaller cell, this is kind of constricted internally and it has a minimal structure and the sound is just strange. 9 : EH - This category has more of a broad stroke to it, it is pedal manufacturer batteries. A lot of the same manufacturers or private labels make batteries for pedal companies, the most interesting one to me is the Vintage Black Label EH, because it feels like it's crumbling, like the sustain, the feel of the note coming out, there's a decay that's different, because of the capacitance and the resistance on the output of the terminals, and it's it's really cool. 10 : ROLAND - Roland batteries. If you look closely it says Made in Taiwan, so these do not have the restrictions of the Japanese battery, but they have the recipe in composition that Boss used, just from a different manufacturing standpoint. It is something to note that these are intended for drum machines and electronic devices that Roland made to go along with their synthesizers and keyboards. They have a lot more longevity and the capacitance that we talked about, how it drains fast or slow, this is a really slow draining but powerful battery. ESR: 0.000000000101 - 0.000000000102
