Description

I bought this microphone preamp because of its instrument output, so I could go through guitar pedals to change my voice on stage (it also has a built-in compressor/limiter/low cut so it's almost a channel strip). One day I decided, out of curiosity, to plug my guitar in and crank the gain to see what happened, and I had a pleasant surprise since it didn't sound bad at all. Then I put a Tube Screamer in front of it and I was blown away. For these profiles I captured clean to over-saturated settings, thus followed by a cabinet/IR you get a full rig that can go from pristine guitars to a crunchy/fuzzy valve distortion. It works great for doom, grunge, stoner rock, to get that gnarly Weezer-like blue album tones, and the boosted captures allow even for some chugging I guess. I can still imagine playing kind of a dirty blues at medium gain, this was tested with humbuckers as well as single-coils. The cleaner stuff is labeled GainA, while GainB means the +20dB button was engaged. Each gain setting was captured with and without the low cut (LC) because I noticed different sonic behaviors in saturation. These profiles react surprisingly well to NAM's input knob in every position, so you can decide to load something with less gain for example and crank it up, or do completely the opposite, you will have different nuances to choose from. I didn't use the compressor/limiter on any profile. I hope you find this pack useful!
